Who we are at CrossFit CE

At CrossFit CE (Competitive Edge), we love helping people become better by living healthier lives through developing better habits. At the center of this is the CrossFit community. CrossFit is constantly varied, functional movements executed at high intensity. CrossFit CE recognizes that in sport, fitness and in life, preparation for the unknown provides greater adaptability and opportunity for successful outcome and experience. CrossFit CE trains in a specialized modality featuring three distinctive methodologies. We focus on the metabolic pathways for cardiorespiratory fitness and health, to which we divide into aerobic and anaerobic endeavors. We add gymnastics to increase coordination, agility, flexibility, core and trunk strength, neurological completeness and balance. Last, we feature weightlifting for power, speed and strength. By combining the aforementioned in performance training or athletic skill development we are able to increase maximum preparation mentally and physically and mold well rounded athletes capable of greatness.

We love CrossFit for what it has done for us, both physically and mentally. It is about reaching your fullest potential, no matter where you are. Everything we do at CrossFit CE is scalable and adaptable for all, young and old, the competitive athlete to the sedentary person. Getting Started

Our Fundamentals Course is designed to safely and efficiently teach you the movements of CrossFit in a fun and safe environment so you can confidently enter our CrossFit program. All new members with no prior CrossFit experience are required to complete our Fundamentals course. It will teach you the essential movements of CrossFit as well as give you a better understanding of the philosophy behind the CrossFit training program and give us a chance to get to know you! Our Fundamentals Course is a hands on course that will leave you feeling confident in the new skills and movements. We have group or private Fundamentals Courses. Our Fundamentals Course consists of 4 classes.

Class Descriptions

CrossFit WOD (Workout of the Day)

A group class that is constantly varied, has a different focus everyday and is scalable for all levels.


Specialized for the needs of the everyday CrossFitter. Great balance to our CrossFit programming. Free for all CrossFit CE members and $10 drop in for non-members.

Open Gym

Make up a WOD you missed earlier in the week, do some skill work, stretch or try something new. It’s up to you! A coach will be present for questions, technique advice, programming ideas or to just say hi!

Olympic Lifting (To be added soon!)

This class will be based on the technique and the progression of the more intricate barbell movements, focusing mainly on the core olympic lifts: the Snatch and Clean and Jerk. This will be a weightlifting structured class unlike our daily WOD Classes there will be no metabolic conditioning. This class is open to all members and highly encouraged for anyone who would like to take their oly lifting to new levels.

Coach’s Class (To be added soon!)

This is a higher intensity class geared toward the athlete that is proficient in most CrossFit movements. The coaching staff will be working out along side you but will not be responsible for scaling or training technique. All members are welcome but please talk to a coach before coming. This will be a great opportunity for those who want to prepare for the CrossFit Games, competitions or for those who just want that extra push for the week.

Competitive Edge Personal Training

One-on-one personal training allows us to give you our undivided attention. Before we refer you to one of our personal trainers, we spend time getting to know you – your personality, your goals, and your limits. Our trainers are independent contractors. They are all invested in the profession, science, and art of being a personal trainer.

Certified by a nationally recognized personal training organization, our trainers have at least a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or a related field, a minimum of five years of experience, and a diverse training background. They can work with you in addressing health issues like hypertension, diabetes, weight, strength, bone density, and even neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. Many of our trainers also have special areas of interest such as sport-specific training, post-surgical rehabilitation, flexibility and strength training, and prenatal training. You will feel secure that you are working with the best. Our hiring requirements are the most stringent in the Chicago area. Each of our personal training sessions are 1 hour long and range from $85 to $110 depending on the experience level of your trainer.
